These pieces are collaged from relief prints as well as monotypes. The printed Japanese papers are adhered to a sealed ½" board of birch ply with the image continuing around the edge and onto a 1¼" board that gives the piece a sculptural presence and a 2" profile. The final piece is waxed with Heritage Wax to protect the surface. The Celestial Series is a group of modular square pieces that can be displayed side by side or singly. The printed shapes are simple and biomorphic but with a curving sensuality and continuity between pieces. Though quieter than some of my previous work I feel they retain a sense of rhythm and fun. |
